Starr Pushing Big Spots?
Posted by Ron Starr on 24 Jun 2003With the loss of big name talents like Rhett Locke, Jonathan Conspiracy and Angelo Deville to free agency and bigger federations, the rumor backstage is that PWC CEO Ron Starr is worried about the status of the fledgling companys two standing television deals.
"He wont admit it openly, but losing those three is a big hit, publicity-wise," said an unnamed source. "Hes looking for some way to maintain fan interest in the product without having to empty his pockets."
Some say that this desire to keep the popularity of the Pro Wrestling Circuit has driven Starr to encourage wrestlers towards a more "extreme" style of wrestling on television.
"We all know what is popular in the areas were shown," the same source said, "its a wonder we hadnt turned to this earlier."
No word on the truth behind the rumors, but given the "hardcore" nature of New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia fans, a turn towards the extreme style made popular in that area could be a possibility when trying to draw bigger crowds. Perhaps the only way well find out is by continuing to watch PWC TV. The unnamed source concurs.
"I cant tell you anything either way, but if we start booking venues with balconies
look out."
